The Origin of the Joker Card

The origin of the joker is shrouded in mystery, but most experts agree that it was first introduced in the United States in 1875 as part of a popular deck called Euchre. This deck included two special cards: ( joker playing card )an extra Ace and what was then known as “the Best Bower”. This card was later renamed “the Joker”. In the late 1800s, jokers were used more widely, appearing in decks created by both Russell & Morgan and Bee Playing Cards.
